| When my mother, Bettyann, was transitioning from cancer of the maxiallary sinus. Her trigeminal nerve was affected and only allowed her to open her mouth about the width of a straw. Talking and eating were difficult for her. During her illnes she moved to Delaware and I lived in Wisconsin. On a September morning we talked on the phone. Her words to me were jumbled because of the closure of her mouth. That evening my mother crossed.
